Okay, I rant and rave and spew emotionally about the Angels, but as of today, I honestly still considered them in the race for one of the Wildcards.

When Frieri came to spell Zack in a 1-1 game, top of the 9th, I thought: he's got to atone for a couple of bad outings in very close games lately.

Single? He usually gets out of it. Then we have the top of the order up in the bottom of the 9th. We're still in this.

Beltre homers. 3-1. Nathan will come in to pitch the bottom of the 9th.

Speaking for myself, I have now lost hope of making the playoffs. That's it for me. I'll still be hanging with the Angels through Game 162, but mentally I won't be worried about what BAL or OAK or DET did today.

I assume they're out.

Lots of bile towards Mike for yanking Zack, but it was the right move. Frieri has to shut them down. He didn't do it. No Oct for the Angels, barring a miracle, in which case, if it happens, and the Angels do make it to that dippy one-game playoff, I will gladly come in here and eat crow...and expect the four of you to dish it up to me.

But that's not something I'm worried about.

I'm afraid I agree with you. Every day that Oakland and Baltimore win
makes it that much more difficult but this pretty much wraps it up. We
had to win at least 4 of the 6 Texas games. Still could do it but I
don't think the lads will rise to the occasion. Much has been said
about Trumbo's poor 2nd half but consider that Trout was hitting
nearly .350 for most of the season and is now .324. Albert had
recovered from his dismal start and gotten into the .290s and now he's
back in the mid .270s.

In fact, it seems like Torii and Callaspo have carried the team more
than Trout and Pujols. Ah well.

If Pujols still has it then next year will be better. Gosh, I *hope*
he still has it, with that contract! But let's say he does. His 2nd
year in the AL should be good. Our young centerfielder will be even
better than this year. I'm thinking now that Cabrera will get the MVP
and Trout the Rookie of the Year. Hopefully Greinke will get signed. I
doubt Haren will, which is too bad. I believe in this rotation.

What's sad is that the 6-14 start really did us in. If that had been
14-6 we'd be getting ready for the playoffs.

I know how you feel, but way down deep my inner voice
reminds me of Yogi's Admonition and notes that our
elimination numbers are still less than zero. Of course,
this voice as misled me before, like the time it led me to
the end of the rainbow; but when I got there, instead of a
pot of gold there was a Leprechaun laughing his ass off at
me and pointing to a sign that read, "The OTHER end, stupid."
